Cognitive neuroscience: a teaching partnership with the inclusive school

For a long time the Regular School and today the Inclusive School have been seeking partnerships in the form of new pedagogical actions to overcome the delays that it has suffered for decades. There are many models of strategies already implemented in schools that have failed, and few that are still resisting. Not only by the fact that new technologies have not yet been assimilated by schools, but also by the fact that there are still uncertainties in the advances of new resources. Cognitive neuroscience is now presented as an inspiration for this “new partnership”, which, if well understood, can facilitate the implementation of new pedagogical models. The objective of this review is to discuss the possibilities of cognitive neuroscience in supporting the Inclusive School, and especially if it can add to the educational work with visually impaired students. In the methodology review, articles and papers were selected on the Internet in general and from specialized magazines. The keywords used were: visual impairment, the blind, cognitive neuroscience, brain plasticity, inclusive school and school for the blind. The search was carried out between the years 2013 to 2015. The justifi cation is the need to present a topic not yet discussed in the Inclusive School. The results confi rm the importance of cognitive neuroscience in education for the visually impaired, mainly because this partnership explains and shows new ways for a more inclusive learning.
