Escutando a praia: cooperação entre ecologia acústica e educação musical

Valendo-se de uma metodologia inspirada no arte-jogo Fim de Feira desenvolvido por Teca Brito em parceria com J. Koellreutter, este artigo discute a elaboração e os resultados de uma oficina de educação sonora realizada com os alunos da escola XXX, situada numa região litorânea do estado de Ceará. Inserida em uma paisagem sonora sobremaneira marcada por sons naturais do mar, vento, de coqueiros, pássaros e outros, a referida escola foi escolhida para a realização das oficinas por julgarmos favorecer o desenvolvimento de atividades que interceptam os campos da educação musical e da ecologia acústica, definida por M. Schafer como “o estudo dos sons em relação à vida e à sociedade” (SCHAFER). Elaboramos, então, o arte-jogo Escutando a Praia, no qual os alunos foram instigados a refletir sobre o seu universo sonoro, a partir da prática de uma escuta minuciosa da paisagem sonora do lugar, reproduzindo-a, posteriormente, de forma cênica e musical. Para tanto, trabalhamos um conceito ampliado de música, no qual o som configura-se como matéria-prima a ser manipulada por qualquer um que se proponha a fazê-lo, corroborando o pensamento de John Cage, para o qual “Música é sons, sons à nossa volta, quer estejamos dentro ou fora das salas de concerto”. Por intermédio da atividade realizada, o artigo discute a contribuição da ecologia acústica para o aprimoramento da percepção sonora, da concentração, e para o aprendizado musical propriamente dito.

Listening to the beach: Cooperation between acoustic ecology and musical education

Based on a methodology inspired at the art game ’The end of the market’ developed by Teca Brito in partnership with J. Koellreutter, this paper discusses the elaboration and the results of a workshop on sound education with the students of the Early Childhood and Basic School Helena de Aguiar Dias, located in a coast side area in the State of Ceará. The school is located in a greatly pointed out by the natural sounds of the sea area, and it was chosen to hold the workshop based on the belief that it would help on the development of the activities that intercept the fields of musical education and acoustic ecology, in Schafer’s definition as “the study of the sounds related to life and society” (SCHAFER) The art game ‘Listening to the beach’, where the students were instigated to think about their own sound universe, based on a thorough listening of the environmental soundscape, later reproducing them on a scenic and musical way. Therefore, we worked on an enlarged concept of music, whereupon sound is raw material to be manipulated by anyone who wants to do it, reinforcing John Cage’s thought, to whom ‘Music is sounds, sounds around us, either inside or outside concert rooms’. Through the activity, the article discusses the contribution of the acoustic ecology to the improvement of the sound perception, concentration and musical learning itself.
