Educando e formando através da música: uma etnografia da Banda de Música Municipal de Paraipaba

A partir de um exercício de etnografia musical realizado junto a Banda de Música Municipal de Paraipaba, cidade litorânea do interior do Ceará, este trabalho tem como objetivo principal realizar uma investigação sobre a repercussão da formação musical na vida social de seus integrantes. Segundo Anthony Seeger (2004) “a etnografia da música é o escrito sobre as maneiras que as pessoas fazem música”. Partindo deste direcionamento teórico investigamos a prática e a vivência musical desta banda refletindo sobre sua contribuição na formação social, cultural e educacional dos jovens desta cidade e sua influência para a sociedade local. Através da etnografia, levantamento e análises de dados foi possível traçar o perfil dos integrantes participantes da banda de música, bem como obter várias informações a respeito da importância da vivência musical oportunizada pela banda aos seus membros e o reflexo desta vivência em toda a comunidade.

Educating and Forming Through Music: an ethnography of Municipal Music Band of Paraipaba

From an exercise in musical ethnography executed with Municipal Music Band of Paraipaba, seaside town in the country of Ceará, this paper aims to provide a research on the impact of musical training on the social life of its members. According to Anthony Seeger (2004) "ethnography of music is written about the ways that people make music." From this theoretical direction we investigated the musical practice and experience of this band reflecting on their contribution to the social, cultural and educational formation of the youth of this city and its influence to the local society. Through ethnography, survey and analysis of data it was possible to trace the profile of the participating members of the music band as well as obtaining a variety of information about the importance of musical experience nurtured by the band members and their reflection of this experience in the community.
