A crítica na mudança dos paradigmas da apreciação musical do século XX

A crítica de arte sempre suscitou controvérsias. De grande relevância para a cultura brasileira foi o embate entre a crítica dita conservadora e os defensores do movimento que culminou com a Semana de Arte Moderna de 1922. Como “não há história sem crítica e sem espírito seletivo”, que só se justifica sob o signo da qualidade. Este trabalho pretende analisar as diferentes concepções da qualidade artística no Brasil sob dois pontos de vista paradigmáticos na década de 1920. De um lado a visão de Oscar Guanabrino e de outro, a visão dos modernistas.

The Criticism in the Changing of Paradigms of Musical Appreciation on the Twentieth Century

Art criticism has always caused controversy. It was of great relevance to the Brazilian culture the clash between the called conservative critics and the defenders of the movement that culminated in the Semana de Arte Moderna (Modern Art Week) in 1922. As we have "no history in the absence of criticism and selective spirit" which can only be justified under the quality sign, this paper discusses the different conceptions of artistic quality in Brazil from two points of paradigmatic views in the 1920s: on one side the Oscar Guanabrino vision and in the other hand, the vision of the modernists.
